Getting the light right To fix this, we play around with the quartz coatings and the filaments inside the bulb. The goal is to push the energy away from that sharp blue light and move it into the mid-to-long wave infrared range. Basically, we’re trading a tiny bit of heating speed for a much softer glow. It means the warmth still sinks into the skin, but it doesn’t hit the eyes with that intense, stabbing brightness. It’s just… gentler. The tricky part about power We don’t just stick the bulb in a box. We use diffused reflectors to scatter the light, which stops those annoying “hot spots” from forming. We also make sure the temperature climbs slowly, rather than hitting you with a wall of heat the second you flip the switch. But here’s the catch: you can’t just crank up the wattage to heat a huge room instantly. If the filament gets too hot, the light shifts back into that visible, glaring range. To keep that soft, cozy vibe, you have to keep the power density moderate. Less is more here. A few things to watch for during install Bathrooms are damp. That’s a given. The weakest link in these heaters is usually the seal on the quartz tube. If your housing doesn’t have a solid, waterproof gasket, moisture will sneak in and fry the filament way sooner than it should.
