
Heating Your Class 100 Cleanroom Without the Mess
When you’re running a Class 100 (ISO 5) environment, the last thing you need is a stray particle ruining a batch. It happens more than people admit. You buy a standard infrared lamp, it heats up, and suddenly those cheap coatings or adhesives start flaking off. Now you’ve got debris all over your wafers. It’s a nightmare. We decided to fix that by sticking to the basics: high-purity synthetic quartz and vacuum-deposited gold. Why gold? Because gold doesn’t oxidize. Aluminum and silver are fine for some things, but they create a layer of gunk over time that eventually peels away. Gold stays put. Plus, it’s incredibly efficient. It bounces the IR spectrum right back toward your target. This means your part gets the heat it needs, and your machine frame doesn’t turn into a giant radiator. Keeping it clean The tubes are made from high-purity quartz, so you don’t have to worry about metallic impurities leaking into your production zone. We also ditched the organic glues and sealants. Everything is either fused or mechanically clamped. That way, when you ramp up to operating temperature, you aren’t off-gassing chemicals into your clean space. A few things to keep in mind These lamps are powerful. Because the gold reflector pushes almost all that energy forward, the heat is intense. You’ll want to be careful with your PID controllers so you don’t overshoot your temperature. And a quick tip: make sure your cooling fans are actually pulling heat away from the lamp ends. If they aren’t, your electrical connectors will fry way sooner than they should. We designed these to be drop-in replacements for semiconductor and medical device lines.
